Tip 2

This is how to make a beautiful lilac bouquet

Lovely

Mother’s Day present

Most lilacs flower around Mother’s day. The ideal time to surprise her with a fragrant bouquet! When you cut a flowering stem from the shrub, the buds underneath the cutting point will form shoots. These new shoots then have the whole summer to develop into new flower buds which will abundantly flower the following year.

A FEW TIPS TO ENJOY YOUR BOUQUET LONGER:

  1. It is best to cut the flowering stems in the morning.
  2. Remove all the side shoots with leaves. To fill it out again you can use a few stems with only leaves in the bouquet.
  3. Cut off the end of the stems at an angle.
  4. Place the stems in a clean vase with plenty of water. Do not use a metal vase.
  5. Add cut flower food to the water. Ask for it at your garden centre.
  6. Place the vase out of draughts but in a cool spot and check the water level regularly.
